  • Reduce IOP settings and stay stable.

For a customised surgical experience, you can choose from three infusion systems: gravity-controlled passive infusion, air-driven active infusion, and the new Dynamic Infusion.

Dynamic Infusion compensates for intraocular pressure changes. This enables you to keep IOP settings near the physiological level while maintaining stable intraocular conditions, even with high flow and vacuum settings.

Another advantage: Dynamic Infusion can be used flexibly in both the anterior and posterior segments. It is compatible with both the SPEEP and the peristaltic pump and suitable for all standard 500ml BSS bottles made of glass or plastic.

  • PACS — Phaco Assisted Cataract Surgery — Phaco surgery reconsidered

PACS contributes to precise, controlled, and efficient work under stable chamber conditions. With the OS 4 Up, you have the freedom to choose from four phaco modulation for energy delivery: Continuous, Pulse, Burst, and the new dimension — PACS (Phaco Assisted Cataract Surgery).

With conventional phaco modes (Continuous, Pulse, Burst), the movement of the phaco tip is controlled solely by the pedal deflection. PACS takes it a step further by adaptively regulating tip movement — similar to cruise control.

When dense lens material is present at the tip opening, the natural resistance of the materials slows down the phaco tip’s motion. Without PACS, the surgeon must manually increase energy delivery via the pedal to compensate. PACS, however, automatically detects when dense material is restricting tip movement and adjusts the energy delivery in real time. This keeps the longitudinal movement of the phaco tip constant — regardless of lens density.

With PACS, you benefit from consistent emulsification and noticeably efficiency. Frequent manual adjustments of phaco power via the food pedal are no longer necessary.

  • Seeing what others might miss.

With the OS 4 Up, posterior segment illumination can be tailored to your personal preferences and a wide range of surgical situations. Two powerful LED light sources, with an impressive lifespan of 5,000 hours, ensure homogeneous illumination right into the periphery.

A particular highlight is the Power LED Plus light source. Both the colour spectrum and light intensity can be individually adjusted. Yello and blue can be mixed as desired to visualise fine tissue structures and enable high-resolution contrast viewing.

Another advantage is the control of light intensity. Thanks to the wide control range, the double light source is suitable for both 3D and standard microscopes, while phototoxic exposure can be reduced through low-light settings.

  • Enjoy dual linear control with just one movement.

The OS 4 Up supports you with three selectable pedal modes: linear, dual-linear, and the new easyVit. This flexibility allows you to adapt the platform to your preferred workflow.

With easyVit, you control aspiration and cut rate simultaneously via a linear pedal movement. This enables all planned phases of a PPV, from core vitrectomy to shaving on attached or detached retina, to be performed without switching programs.

The pedal path is divided into three sections, to which you can assign individual values. This way, you stay in control without changing your familiar foot movement.

  • Sharp visualisation for your setup — whether with 3D or standard microscope

For added convenience, the light intensity of the laser aiming beam can be adjusted in nine steps and adapted to both standard and 3D microscopes, as well as to individual working styles.

Smooth access. Powerful performance.

The sharp, lance-shaped blade of the Caliburn Trocar System delivers high cutting force and forms the foundation for smooth entry. In combination with the bevelled design of the trocar cannula, it enables a consistent insertion with up to 43% less penetration force.

The Continuous Flow Cutter ensures continuous aspiration thanks to its permanently open port, resulting in reduced traction on the retina compared to cutters with a conventional guillotine mechanism. The combination of our sophisticated fluidics systems, continuous aspiration, and up to 15,000 cpm delivers powerful performance in the OR. A 61% increase in aspiration flow at 23G significantly accelerates vitreous removal, while the enhanced stiffness improves the cutter’s ability.
